Company History
In the early days of 1958, the Nora Organisation operated from a small warehouse in North London. Over the years there had been a constant demand from the farming community for a comfortable, lightweight wellington. They also required that this wellington should have a strong grip and be resistant to a range of oils, fats and acids. At the same time, many areas of industry were also looking for a slip-proof wellington to help prevent the rising number of accidents caused by slipping. Coupled with this was a demand for boots that could be washed and disinfected inside and out. All these requirements were analysed and the result was the Nora wellington which met all the needs above and was lighter in weight than standard wellingtons and did not require inner liners.
In 1963 Protectoplast Ltd was formed and as demand for NORA products grew, a move was made, in two stages, to South Woodford. A further move was made in 1981 to the present offices and warehouse complex situated in Essex.
During the 1970’s due to popular demand, a range of protective clothing for farm, industry and leisure was introduced. Since those early days additional products have been added in protective footwear, socks, country clothing, waterproof and wax clothing and other products that provide good value all weather protection from head to foot. Over the years the range of Wellingtons has been expanded to meet both general and specialist needs of the agricultural community and includes our best selling Border range, now in its 20th year of sale in the UK.
